The Khmerism Keyboard Project, initiated by Lyheng Phuoy, serves as a noteworthy endeavor in the realm of digital linguistics. Officially registered with the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts in 2015, this project marks a significant advancement in keyboard design tailored for Khmer language usage.

Beginning in 2014 during studies in Thailand, Phuoy embarked on a thorough exploration of existing keyboard layouts. This extensive research involved over 130 iterations of the keyboard, each undergoing rigorous evidence-based testing to arrive at the current iteration. Such systematic testing is unprecedented in this domain, showcasing a commitment to innovation and improvement.
