The Khmerism Keyboard Project, initiated by Lyheng Phuoy, serves as a noteworthy endeavor in the realm of digital linguistics. Officially registered with the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts in 2015, this project marks a significant advancement in keyboard design tailored for Khmer language usage.

Beginning in 2014 during studies in Thailand, Phuoy embarked on a thorough exploration of existing keyboard layouts. This extensive research involved over 130 iterations of the keyboard, each undergoing rigorous evidence-based testing to arrive at the current iteration. Such systematic testing is unprecedented in this domain, showcasing a commitment to innovation and improvement.

The development process was characterized by an emphasis on learning from historical errors, resulting in a design that aspires to endure both the test of time and user experience. This meticulous attention to detail ensures that the keyboard not only meets practical needs but also fosters lasting usability.
